Regional Policy DG
The Regional Policy DG works to strengthen economic, social and territorial cohesion within the EU by reducing disparities in the level of development among regions and member states. It helps to promote the competitiveness of regional economies and the permanent catch-up of those lagging behind the prosperous areas. The main instruments of this policy are the European Development Fund and the Cohesion Fund.

Economic and Finance Affairs Council (ECOFIN)
The Economic and Finance Affairs Council (ECOFIN) council is composed of the Economics and Finance Ministers of the member states, as well as Budget Ministers when budgetary issues are discussed. It meets once a month. There is also an informal body - made up of eurozone finance ministers - known as the Eurogroup, which generally meets on the eve of ECOFIN meetings. It is a coordinating body, and takes no formal decisions.
